Add-Ons

• Placenta Encapsulation through Sweet Pea Birth Services $225, normally $275
• Extra set of hands: Another doula during the most intense part of your birth! Either Eliza Payne or Susie Hannig, my partners at Utah County Doulas, $500
• Two Doula Package: Have the care, expertise, and support of two experienced doulas throughout your pregnancy, birth and postpartum. This option is particularly helpful when birth partners are not able to offer much/any support. Each doula will provide a prenatal visit, both will attend your birth and postpartum visit. The second doula would be either Eliza Payne or Susie Hannig, my partners at Utah County Doulas, $600 in addition to your package base fee.

– Prenatal Care –

Included in my doula services package are one or two prenatal appointments, depending on need:

– Your needs and how your birth team
can best support you
– How I can best work with your partner
– Fears/concerns you both have
– Pregnancy history
– Birth plan
– Comfort measures
– Laboring and pushing positions
– Helpful pregnancy/birth mindsets
– Education (if needed)
– Anything and everything you want to
talk about!

Most importantly we will get to know each other, become comfortable with each other and begin our relationship.

– Birth Support –

Emotional – coaching, breathing, encouragement, relaxation, visualization, reassurance, fear reduction, undivided attention, grounding influence

Physical – counter pressure, hot water bottles, cool wash cloths, hydration, maintaining energy, T.E.N.S. unit, positioning guidance, massage, birth ball, rebozo work

Partner support – Labor is demanding on partners. I will be there to give them a break (go to the bathroom, eat, brush his/her teeth, etc). I encourage partners to take the lead in whatever way they feel comfortable and I then I fill in the gaps. Your partner knows you intimately and has a love for you and your baby a doula can’t replace. See “Dads and Doulas” for more information

– Postpartum –

I will remain with you until everyone is stable (usually 1-2 hours after your baby arrives), encourage mother-baby bonding, help with breastfeeding, answer questions, and make sure you and your partner’s needs are met.

One to two hour postpartum visit at your home to:
– Help smooth out breastfeeding kinks
– Discuss your birth and recovery
– Admire your sweet baby
– Answer questions about newborn care
– Conduct a postpartum mood disorders
screening
– Provide education and resources
– Provide labor timeline
– Provide birth photographs (if
applicable)
– If you have hired my photography
services your newborn photo shoot
will also take place at this visit.

– Childbirth Hypnosis –

Hypnosis is a powerful childbirth tool and is usually misunderstood. You won’t be balking like a chicken or telling me your deepest darkest secrets (unless you want to). You WILL learn to accept, deep in your mind, more peaceful, helpful and productive thoughts about childbirth and reduce fear.  Adding hypnosis to your birth will involve an additional 1-1.5 hour prenatal appointment teaching you and your partner the basics of hypnosis and how to practice in the days/months leading up to your big day as well as a birth rehearsal.

– Experience –

– 6 of my own births (7 pregnancies), 3 unmedicated, 1 water birth, posterior presentation, hospital, birth center, miscarriage. 
– Certified childbirth educator through GentleBirth
– Studied Hypnobabies and Bradley Method
– BS in Behavioral Science and Health from the University of Utah
– Childbirth International certified Doula
– Certified hypno-doula through Hypnobabies
– I have been the midwife on the ranch and delivered all our baby animals!

– Miscellaneous –

As a doula I do not:
– Perform clinical tasks (cervical checks, blood pressures, heart tones, etc.)
– Make decisions for you
– Project my own beliefs onto your experience.

If your birth goes long (over 15 hours), at my discretion, I may choose to call in a back up doula for an additional $75 fee. You will benefit by getting a fresh doula with the energy needed to continue giving you excellent physical and emotional support. I will get some rest and rejoin you as soon as possible.
